Reserved Library Resource Room - Conditions of Use

Access

The room is provided for students with a disability or medical condition that need access to specialist study equipment not available elsewhere in the Library or on campus.

Access to this room is by use of a swipe card [your library card], which has been encoded by the Library (photocopy) staff.

The Library Reserved Study Room is located on Level 3, South Wing – opposite the Law Library.

Access is to be limited to authorized students only – please do not bring other people into the room without first clearing the project with Equity staff.

To apply to gain access to this room you need to complete the Library Services (Equity) Student Agreement Form.  This form then needs to be submitted to the Disability Liaison Officer for authorisation. The form can be downloaded from our forms page.  Access to these facilities expires at the end of December and needs to be renewed annually.

Student Agreement

You will be expected to sign the Library Services (Equity) Student Agreement acknowledging the above responsibilities and expectations.

It is an expectation that one student will not occupy a computer for more than a two-hour time frame. Should there be students waiting to access the PC’s then please be considerate of their needs.

Examinations

Library Reserved Study Room computers will often be used for formal examination requirements. As a consequence personal information should not be stored on the hard drive, as it will be wiped from the hard drive prior to the examination periods.

Student Responsibilities

Students will be required to log on and off using the same profile as the student network. Initially you will need to contact Library IT to develop your user profile where all your individual settings will be maintained. You will not be able to store information on the hard drive without a security password override.

To maintain the integrity of your data and other relevant information it is important that you do not share your password with others and also remember to log off after use.

The Library Reserved Study Room is provided for study purposes only. If you wish to socialize then please use a more appropriate venue.

It is expected that you will respect the needs of other students while in the room.

There are certain sites/materials that are offensive i.e. pornographic, racial vilification, and it is a condition of the use of the computers that these sites will not be accessed and material downloaded from the Internet.

Additional programs or materials are not to be loaded onto the computer hard drives. Should you have a program that is assisting you with study purposes then please contact Library IT staff to arrange installation.

Do not alter the settings on the computers other than enhancing specific accessibility functions as this may interfere with another student’s settings.

Please do not attempt to ‘fix’ printers or computer settings in any way by going into computer settings as this may cause further problems and delays.

Please report all breakdowns and problems to the Library IT staff immediately so that corrections can be made.

Occasionally personal student information such as ‘FAVORITES’ or other browser functions are stored on machines. Please do not tamper with this material.
